Bucket List: Costa Rica

October 9, 2018

As Fall arrives and the weather gets a bit chillier, it becomes tempting to vacation in a warm and beachy destination. We have the perfect place in mind for you: Costa Rica! Known for its luscious rainforests and gorgeous coast lines, this island is full of wildlife and fun. Here is a bucket list of the top 3 things you should definitely do when visiting Costa Rica!

Ziplining through the Trees

A Costa Rica zip line is essential to your vacation! Whether young or old, zip lining is a safe and unstrenuous adventure anyone can enjoy. After being strapped into a secured harness and cable, you’ll fly through the sky with a bird’s eye view of the beautiful rainforests and beaches below you. If you’re not feeling the adrenaline rush, you can also opt for a a sightseeing tour on hanging bridges or ride on an aerial tram that will take you through the jungle.

Visit the Manuel Antonio Park

Manuel Antonio Park is located on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast and is filled with a dense tropical rainforest, three white-sand beaches, and beautiful hiking trails. The area is filled with exotic foliage and animal life, like the three-toed sloth and the endangered capuchin monkeys. Forbes even called it one of the world’s most beautiful parks in 2011! The more popular beaches are the Espadilla Sur Beach and Manuel Antonio Beach that are each about a half hour hike from the entrance of the national park. Manuel Antonio has gorgeous views of the sunset and the main beachfront is perfect for some “r&r” (relaxation and rejuvenation!).

Go Surfing in Playa Negra

Playa Negra is famous for its beautiful black sand and gnarly waves, and has been rightfully nicknamed “surfers’ paradise.” It was also the setting for the 1994 movie, The Endless Summer II, by Bruce Brown! Although it’s widely known, the area is surrounded by a jungle and has the perfect mix of locals and visitors so you won’t feel overwhelmed by crowd. We recommend staying out of the sun between noon and 3:00 though; the sun is at the highest point during that time and can be really harsh. As always, we recommend sunscreen!
